HIV: Human Immunodeficiency Virus, this is the virus
that causes AIDS.
HIV Positive: The results of a positive HIV test indicates
that you have been exposed to the virus and could be infected.
AIDS: Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. AIDS is
the later stage of the HIV virus infection. HIV progressively destroys
the body’s ability to fight infections and certain cancers.
STDs: Sexually Transmitted Diseases
As the term implies, are diseases transmitted through sexual activities,
exchange of bodily fluids or by direct contact with the infected area.

Chlamydia: A bacterial infection
caused by the Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria that can scar the fallopian
tubes affecting a woman’s ability to have children. It can
also cause discharge from the penis of an infected man.
Gonorrhea: A bacterial infection caused by the
Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacteria of the penis or vagina or anus that
causes pain or burning feeling as well as pus-like discharge, also
known as “clap”. Syphilis:
A bacteria infection that can spread throughout the body and affects
the heart, brain and nerves, also known as “syph”. |
Human Papillomavirus
(HPV) Is a virus that affects the skin in the genital
area, as well as a female’s cervix. Depending on the type
of HPV involved, symptoms can be in a form of warts like growth
or abnormal cell changes.
Hepatitis C: (HCV)
Is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus. HCV is spread
by contact with the blood of an infected person.
HIV: Is the virus that attacks the immune system, the
body’s security force to fight off infections.
AIDS: Is a condition caused
by the HIV virus. When the immune system breaks down, you loose
its protection and you can develop serious, often deadly infections
and cancers. |
